Getting here is half the fun

Due to Alpine Lakes High Camp's unique backcountry location, the transportation process can be an adventure in itself. Based on the season and road conditions, we have several vehicle options to ensure you arrive safe and sound up the 8 mile private road to High Camp. You'll be prompted during your online booking process to select one of the transport options for your arrival and departure days. When your visit approaches, simply get yourself to our parking lot where your car is left during your stay (we've included detailed directions below to make it easy). Then sit back, relax, and let us take you up to the high country!

Transport IN to High Camp: 10am & 2pm daily, additional 6pm option on Fridays

Transport OUT to parking lot: 11am and 3pm daily, additional 1pm option on Sundays



December - April

 Kids 4 and under are free

Provides two-way transportation up and down the private 8 1/2 mile Coulter Creek Road. If guests are departing a cabin the same day you’re arriving for that cabin - you’re welcome to enjoy the Lodge until the cabin has been prepped for your stay.

Transport times and reservations lock into place 7 days prior to your arrival - this allows us to schedule staff and logistics accordingly.

Remember to arrive a minimum of 30 minutes prior to departure. Please update us if you are running late, (509) 763-3044. A $75 charge applies for late arrivals.

Directions to Parking Lot

Alpine Lakes High Camp is an easy two to three hour drive from most Puget Sound locations. Our parking lot is located just off U.S. Highway 2 on Coulter Creek Rd, approximately 17 miles east of Stevens Pass (just west of milepost 82). You’ll find us on the south side of the highway, directly across from Nason Creek Rest Area. Map included below for reference.

From Seattle

Drive to Monroe, WA located on Highway 2, either on State Route 522 from the Bothell/Interstate 405 area, or on Highway 2 from the Interstate 5 Everett/Marysville area. From Monroe, drive east on Highway 2 over Stevens Pass. Our parking lot is on the south side of the highway approximately 17 miles from Stevens Pass.


Take Interstate 5 to Interstate 90.
Take Exit 85 onto State Route 970 towards Wenatchee for 11.9 miles to US 97.
Follow 97 north over Blewett Pass for 35 miles to the junction of Highway 2.
Turn left and travel west on Highway 2 for about 22 miles to our parking lot.

Arriving by Plane or Train?

If you are coming to Alpine Lakes High Camp from a distant area of the US, abroad, or just don't want to drive over the mountains from Seattle/Portland - arriving by Amtrak into Leavenworth or plane into nearby Wenatchee are both great options!

There is a local shuttle company we recommend that is familiar with our High Camp location and the amount of gear guests often bring (bikes, skis, coolers, etc.). Mountain Excursions can transport groups of 6 or less, with all necessary gear to our shuttle parking lot! They can also help you organize other Leavenworth based activities. Rates for roundtrip shuttle to High Camp parking lot and back again at the end of your stay are below. Contact them at (206) 920-6210.
